My proposal is for a creative media project. What I intend to do is create a children’s book focused around the idea of modernism. The book will simplify the concept of modernism as well as incorporate the modernist periodicals and their editors. The book will follow a young boy on his imaginary journey exploring and understanding the idea of modernism. The book will be illustrated and incorporate images of the periodicals.

My objective for this project is to break down the idea of modernism into terms that even a child would understand. It seems a little far fetched that a young child would be interested in the idea of modernism. That is why the basic premise of the book deals with the young child trying to find out about this topic that one of his parents is involved with. This follows the notion that children are naturally curious and would like more information about the things they see. Even an adult will be able to read the book and have a basic understanding of modernism and periodicals during the modernist movement.

Although I do not teach young children, I would like to get out of my comfort zone and do something that requires a different angle of thought and a large amount of creativity. A lot of thought and labor will go into creating illustrations and matching ideas with an appropriate illustration.
