I graduated from the State University of New York at Albany in May 2006 with a B.S. in Business Administration. My concentration was in Marketing and Management, with a minor in Economics. Anxious to start working, I accepted my first full time position in the Corporate World in June 2006, and began working in July.  After only working in the business world for a few months, I realised business was not for me. I always wanted to become a teacher, but felt I was in the school environment for my entire life and needed to try something different, which is how I ended up in business. I quit my job in the Corporate World in March 2007, and realised teaching was my calling.     

    I am currently enrolled in the Childhood Education Master's program (1-6) at Brooklyn College. I began the program in June 2007 and expect to graduate in May 2009. I just completed my student teaching requirement at a local elementary school. I worked with a 5th grade class, most of who were English Language Learners. It was an extremely rewarding experience, and has helped to prepare me for when I have a class of my own. 

    I believe that being a teacher is a year-round job, although we do have summers off.  I find myself constantly browsing websites, and shopping around in stores for things that I think my students will one day enjoy.

    In September I will start substitute teaching, while completing the final requirements of the program here at Brooklyn College. I'm hoping to learn even more, and encounter experiences that will help me in the future.  I will finally be ready to begin my career as a teacher for the 2009-2010 school year!
