MaryAnne Guzman is currently a NYC Teaching Fellow pursuing a Master's in Childhood Education with a Bilingual Extension at Brooklyn College. Having worked as a Medical Assistant, a local program coodinator, a Parent Coordinator and now a teacher has made MaryAnne realize that teaching is her true calling. After a diverse working background MaryAnne has made a self discovery; the love of teaching. MaryAnne currently teaches a fifth grade Bilingual class at the multicultural Public School 92. This discovery has put things in perspective for MaryAnne being that she has set out a mission to improve the lives of New York City public school children.
Interestingly MaryAnne Guzman received an undergraduate in Business at a small progressive college (Audrey Cohen College). During her undergraduate course work she studied the philosophy of Adam Smith, Karl Marx, the works of Joseph Conrad and other economic philosophers.
MaryAnne has been a woman of setting goals. Of them many are still yet to be accomplished. However, having entered the public educational system, she intends on opening up a charter school to promote biliteracy and bilingualism amongst New York City students as she advances with her career.
On a more personal note, MaryAnne has a 13 year old daughter who is the focal point of her life. All of the other glitches have been eliminated from her life. The decisions she makes takes into consideration the effects that they will have on her daughter's long term life. Therefore teaching her that one must always be independent and hard working. Always telling her "never to settle" and "life is always changing therefore you should always see how you can change with it".
