Charlene Nicholson is an English teacher with the New York City Department of Education. She currently teaches seventh and eight graders. Most of her teaching experience was gained in her native country, Guyana. There she also received her first degree, BA English. She is now pursuing her MA English and will be completing this in summer 2008.

During her studies, Charlene enjoyed delving into feminism since it enabled her to examine various views on issues which affect women. Some of the novels which she considers reading through the feminist lens include: The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton, Maggie: A Girl of the Streets by Stephen Crane, The Awakening by Kate Chopin and The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman.

For Modernist novels, Charlene enjoyed reading Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, Kim by Rudyard Kipling, and A Passage to India by E.M Forster.

In addition to her academic achievements, Mrs Nicholson loves reading, traveling, singing, and spending adequate fun time with her family.
